Everybody Violet delivers a soulful blend of psychedelic indie pop & rock; that is
colored with tribal drums, haunting strings, and unexpected vocal harmonies.
BAND HISTORY, in brief
Everybody Violet first formed in 1985 and was part of the San Diego Che Underground* movement. They were originally a five piece, all-girl band that delivered an intense version of all original garage and psychedelic rock and pop music. Despite experiencing a high level of success in a short amount of time, which included interest from all local SD papers, Rolling Stone Magazine, and famed Los Angeles Promoter and Record producer Greg Shaw, the band of young women disbanded before they recorded and they could make a permanent mark on SD R& R history .Well, three of the band’s founders are back to right their wrong!
PRESENT TENSE
Now, over 22 years since the band worked together in any form, Everybody Violet has come together with a new sense of dedication and enthusiasm for creating and playing music that rocks the body and moves the soul! At the heart of the group are two original members– guitarist/vocalist Carina Burns-Randolph and lyricist and lead singer Kristi Maddocks (The Blues Gangsters, Burlap & Pearl, Café Every Du Nord). The new additions (who now make EV a sizzling sextet) include music aficionado David Fleminger on guitar, keyboards, and arrangements (The Answers, The Mirrors, Lemons are Yellow, The Blues Gangsters); Kristin Martin on bass and vocals (Noise 292, Lemons Are Yellow, Apparition); and classically-trained Heather Vorwreck on cello and violin (The Comeuppance). EV hopes that the addition of Dave’s guitar and arrangements, Heather’s strings, and the vocals skills of Kristin Martin to its repertoire will translate into a fuller sound with a majestic audio landscape. Everybody Violet is dedicated to engaging its audience, increasing its fan base, and reaching a level of performance and professionalism that eluded the band 24 years before.
